Small Businesses

High growth small businesses make a significant contribution to the UK economy which, up to now, has been largely unrecognised. We think it’s time this secret was more widely known.

A ground-breaking new report commissioned by Octopus and produced by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr). This report was launched yesterday at the House of Lords, in front of Members of Parliament, policy makers and press. You can also read about it in the Daily Telegraph and watch Simon Rogerson’s interview on the report on CNBC.

The report highlights, for the first time, the economic impact of Britain’s fastest-growing small businesses. For example, did you know that this small sector of approximately 30,000 firms:

• Makes an annual contribution of £55 billion to the UK economy?
• Currently employs more than 660,000 UK workers?
• Generated more than one-third of the UK’s economic growth in 2013?
• Created more than two-thirds of all new UK jobs in the last two years?

We want to raise awareness of the critical role that high growth small businesses are playing in the recovery of our economy. You can download a copy of the report from the following website: highgrowthsmallbusiness.co.uk. Also, why not join the conversation on Twitter at #hgsbreport.
